Competition software built for the climbing community.
CruxPass started with a real problem faced by real climbing gyms: running a great competition shouldn't require piecing together spreadsheets, forms, payment systems, and manually updated results.
Built because climbing comps deserve better tools.
CruxPass started with a conversation with a Montana climbing gym owner who runs an annual competition as part of a statewide series. The software available to them wasn't meeting the needs of the gym, the organizers, or the climbing community they were trying to support.
As a climber and engineer, I have experienced these complexities first hand and saw an opportunity to build something better. There are plenty of software options for other types of gyms, competitions, and tournaments, but climbing competitions have unique formats and intricacies that require customizable solutions.
One place to run the whole competition.
CruxPass brings competition setup, registration, scoring, live leaderboards, and multi-event series together in one platform.
The goal is simple: make competition day easier for organizers, and give climbers a better experience from registration through final results.
Built with gyms, not just for them.
There is a reason for every feature that CruxPass has. Every design choice is driven by feedback from gym owners, competition organizers, and climbers. This collaboration is what sets CruxPass apart.
- Flexible competition creation with customizable scoring formats, competitor groups, route zones, and visibility settings.
- Quick Guardian accounts for parents, guardian, and coaches to manage their dependents' registrations and results with ease.
- Badges and awards for climbers to celebrate their competition and series performance and encourage continued participation in the climbing community.
- Simple series management for organizing linked competitions across multiple gyms, including easy setup duplication to maintain consistency across seasons.
Hi, I'm Caitlin McLaughlin.
I'm the founder and developer behind CruxPass. I'm an engineer, a software developer, and most importantly, an avid rock climber. Whether it's a bug in the code or (preferably) a tricky crux move, I love solving puzzles and finding beta that works.
After seven years of climbing, I couldn't be more grateful for the community I've found at every gym, crag, and competition. I never would have thought to build CruxPass without the relationships I've built with gym owners, organizers, and other climbers. Climbing has deep roots in a scrappy, dirtbag culture, but it has also grown into an increasingly expensive sport with a steep learning curve. My aim with CruxPass is to make competitions more accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for climbers, organizers, and gyms alike.
CruxPass is independently owned and operated. There's no large development team or corporate parent behind it, just a climber who wants to build something that serves the community. If you have feedback, encounter a problem, or have an idea for something that could work better, you're talking to the person who actually builds the software.
Run your next comp with CruxPass.
CruxPass is currently in beta. We're working with early organizers to refine the platform and make running climbing competitions easier.
